2015 Report to Friends of the Binky Foundation
This year can be summed up in one word: Wow! In 2015, our 11th year of awarding grants to organizations and individuals devoted to protecting, rescuing and caring for domestic and wild animals and their habitats, we exceeded the $million mark in total grants. Among our 2015 highlights are the following:
- For the year we awarded and paid 67 First Steps grants to recipients in 27 states totaling $123,364.31.
- During our June 2015 window we received 173 “First Steps” grant applications, doubling the number of requests received in our most active prior window, September 2014.
- From inception 11 years ago through 2015 we have awarded 319 grants totaling $1,013,125.67.
- 2015 also marked completion of our evolution toward focusing exclusively on small “First Steps” grants, with a particular attention to new organizations with sustainable plans for future viability.
The Remembrance page of our website, www.binkyfoundation.org, continues to be a very popular way for our friends to honor the memory of their animal friends and companions.
A side benefit of the popularity of our Remembrance page was the addition this year of a “Donate Now” button to accommodate the growing legion of supporters more comfortable dealing through cyberspace than writing old fashioned checks (which we gladly continue to accept!)
Many thanks for your interest in our efforts, and please know that 100% of any donations received from our friends will be used in support of our “First Steps” Grant Program.
